Aftercare

TESS

It is often necessary to continue taking your medicine after you have recovered in order to prevent the depression from returning. Your own doctor can also prescribe preventive treatment but in complex cases the following places can also prescribe preventive treatment:

Psychiatric day hospitals

You will be in the psychiatric ward during the day. Here, you will receive treatment which can include medicine, psychotherapy, and environmental therapy. You will go home at the end of the day and will stay at home overnight and on the weekends.

Outpatient setting

If you have been hospitalized, you may be offered aftercare in a psychiatric outpatient department. You have the option of choosing your psychiatrist at your own expense. If you opt to avail of free consultation services, you will be assigned a particular psychiatrist who will take care of you on an out-patient basis.

District psychiatry

Some psychiatric institutions that are managed by the Department of Health work closely with district psychiatric centers. These centers treat patients with mental illnesses after they have been hospitalized.

There are many myths associated with psychiatric hospitalization. You must ignore them because they no longer apply today. Do not let myths and untruths destroy your health, but instead take advantage of the opportunities that are available to become healthy again!
