Psychologists
TESS
The word 'psychology' comes from the words psyche and logos. Psyche means the soul, life's breath or the mind, while logos means knowledge.
Training
The basic qualification for a psychologist who is trained in psychotherapy is a degree in applied psychology from a university.
Treatment
Psychologists can specialise in treating:
- crises
- anxiety and depression
- psychoses
A psychologist must only give the treatment that he or she is trained to give. Psychologists are also responsible for using the most suitable methods for the problem that is to be treated. Psychologists have themselves received personal training. It is a good way of finding out how the treatment affects our own body and soul.
